Human Resources Generalist

We are looking for a motivated Human Resources Generalist to provide support to our businesses and maintain our positive, inspiring company culture. This role is for someone who thrives in variety and genuinely cares about the employee experience. This role is part of our centralized Administration team, based in our downtown Banff office, while supporting our business entities: Wild Flour Artisan Bakery, Little Wild Coffee & Gelato and Juniper Hotel & Bistro.

Reports Directly To: Human Resources Manager

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and Onboarding
• Manage the recruitment journey for our businesses, including job postings, candidate pre-screening, interviews, and representing the company at job fairs.
• Welcome new team members, onboard them in our systems, and ensure smooth integration.
• Organize and co-lead employee orientation sessions to ensure new hires are prepared and confident as they begin.

Employee Relations and HR Support
• Act as the primary contact for HR policy and procedure inquiries, offering clear guidance to support the team.
• Guide and support managers through employee relations challenges, including attendance, performance, and workplace concerns, and help resolve conflicts.
• Assist with workplace investigations and documentation, as required.
• Support performance management and progressive discipline processes.
• Escalate complex or sensitive employee relations matters to the HR Manager.
• Create and send a monthly employee newsletter that shares company news, highlights employee programs, announces upcoming events, recognizes achievements, and covers community activities.
• Organize team events, volunteer activities, and celebrations to foster engagement throughout the year.
• Administer recognition, retention and engagement initiatives.

Performance Management & Training
• Support performance review cycles across all locations, ensuring consistency in process and documentation.
• Support in developing and delivering training.
• Track completion of required certifications (food safety, ProServe, First Aid)

Benefits & Payroll
• Administer employee benefits enrollment, changes, and questions.
• Support payroll administration by reviewing and submitting payroll information, including new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, benefits, and other employee changes.
• Assist with payroll inquiries and ensure payroll-related employee information is accurate and up to date.
• Maintain all employee records.

Health & Safety Support
• Support workplace safety by assisting with incidents and WCB reporting, maintaining current safety practices.

Staff Housing Support
• Support the daily operations and administration of staff accommodation across company housing locations.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support the HR team, employees, and overall operations of the organization.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, though diverse backgrounds are valued.
• You have at least two years of experience in HR Coordinator or Generalist roles.
• You have in-depth knowledge of employment law, payroll fundamentals, and health and safety standards.
• You demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills with individuals of all levels of the organization.
• You approach challenges calmly and apply effective problem-solving skills and are sensitive to the needs of a culturally diverse workforce.
• You are detail-oriented and accurate, contributing to team success.
• You are proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, and use these tools to support efficient operations. You are also comfortable using HRIS and payroll software.
• You effectively manage competing deadlines and maintain project progress.
